The Italian G20 Presidency kicks off

December 1st 2020 is the inauguration date of the Italian G20 Presidency, which will, over the course of a year, host a large number of institutional meetings and special events dedicated to the major issues of the global agenda.

The agenda will rotate around three pillars: People, Planet and Prosperity. These will guide the action of the G20, a forum that has assumed an increasingly important role in addressing global challenges over the years, also due to its broad representation. Its membership accounts for 60% of the world’s population, more than 80% of global GDP and about 75% of international trade.

The Italian Presidency will culminate in the Summit of Heads of State and Government, to be held on October 30th and 31st 2021. The event will be chaired by the Italian President of the Council of Ministers. Participants will include the members of the G20, some invited countries and the representatives of some of the major international and regional organizations. The G20 Ministers of Economics and Finance will also attend. The Summit will represent the culmination of the intense work carried out during the year, through Sherpa meetings, Ministerial Meetings, working groups and meetings of the Engagement Groups.
